| How Mist makers work
The mist effect is created by the small mist maker unit which sits below the surface of the water. This unit contains a ceramic disc which, when activated, vibrates at an ultrasonic frequency (1.7 Mhz). This excites the water molecules and instantly produces mist (water vapour). At no point do the unit, water or mist become hot, meaning that the mist maker is able to operate at a very low voltage (24v), eliminating the risk of electric shock as the transformer safetly converts 240 volt mains power to a safe 24 volts.
The mist maker unit also has a built-in water sensor which detects when the water level is low. The unit will then switch itself off when it gets close to breaking the surface of the water which will prevent the unit from burning out.
